Oscar Alvarez Lemus

PhD Student

Oscar is a 1st year PhD student in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Toronto, Canada. He joined the ATOMS lab in September 2022 and his research is focused on the thermal management of Lithium-ion batteries for Electric Vehicles (EVs) applications. The research considers analytical, numerical and experimental studies, from cell to battery packs levels, whose aim is to improve the thermal behavior and longevity of EV batteries in a collaborative work with industry partners.

Oscar received his M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 2019 and his B.A.Sc. in 2017 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, with specialization in thermal systems. He was an instructor in Thermofluids courses and also the chief project’s engineer in a company dedicated to the design, implementation and monitoring of central heating systems.
