David Romero
Senior Research Associate
David is currently a Senior Research Associate at the Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Department, University of Toronto. He was an Associate Professor in the Escuela de Ingenieria Mecanica, Universidad del Zulia, Maracaibo, Venezuela, until 2012. David holds M.Sc. (2003) and Ph.D. (2008) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
David’s research interests are in the intersection of applied computing, statistics and mathematics in support of engineering design, modeling and optimization, particularly in the thermal/fluid sciences. Current projects involve development and application of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods in simulation-based design optimization applications, development and characterization of physically informed neural networks for engineering systems, optimal design of policies and incentives to enable the electric vehicle revolution, and optimization of wind energy systems.
