Dr. Da Silva holds a Ph.D. (2016) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Universidad de Oriente (Anzoátegui, Venezuela) in 2005. After two years as a field engineer in the aluminum industry in Venezuela, he joined the Universidad de Oriente (2008-2011) as a lecturer, where he taught core subjects in mechanical engineering. In 2011, Dr. Da Silva moved to Canada to pursue his Ph.D. studies at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Da Silva has accumulated extensive experience as a researcher and managing research projects and university-industry partnerships. He has contributed over 30 refereed articles to the research literature on broad-ranging subjects, including thermal engineering of nanomaterials, nanostructures, and devices for power electronic applications;  multiscale thermal modelling, simulation and testing of lithium-ion battery systems; design and optimization of electric vehicle (EV) thermal management systems; integrated liquid and air cooling solutions for EV chargers; and thermo-electro-chemical characterization and degradation mechanisms of lithium-ion batteries.
