Abbas is a PhD student in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Toronto, Canada. He joined the ATOMS lab in the fall of 2021 with a research focus on modelling battery aging using electrochemical and data-based methods. His research is aimed at determining effective methods to diagnose battery health in EV applications and ultimately support the thermo-mechanical design of battery packs. 

 Abbas received his M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 2017 and his B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 2015 from the University of Toronto. Using his multidisciplinary experience, Abbas has worked for the past 4 years in the automotive industry as a Design Engineer and more recently as a Battery Specialist. Throughout his professional career, Abbas has developed solutions for Tier 1 automotive manufacturers and consulted on multiple battery-related design projects in EVs.
