Eric is a second year undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student as well as the Battery Packaging lead on the University of Toronto Formula SAE (FSAE) Racing team. His work at the ATOMS lab consists of creating a digital twin of the FSAE team’s battery pack, with the goal of improving battery pack thermal management under motorsports competition scenarios. The first stage in his project is to create a reduced-order cell-to-pack thermal model of the battery pack. Following the development of the computational model, the second stage will be to subject the FSAE team’s battery pack to the load conditions to validate the model.
