Joaquin Moran
Status-Only Professor UofT
Joaquin Moran is a Professor at the School of Applied Science and Engineering, Sheridan College. He received his BSc and MSc degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Zulia, in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University.
Dr. Moran’s industry experience includes Senior engineering roles at Hatch Ltd and Stantec Inc, in the areas of mechanical design, sustainable energy projects and energy transition initiatives. Joaquin’s research interests focus on both structural dynamics and flow-induced vibration, and design of low-carbon generation and thermal energy management, using experimental, numerical and data analytics tools. At ATOMS, Dr. Moran participates in research related to simulation, optimization and control of wind energy systems, focusing on the integration of data-driven, physics-informed and physics-based modeling tools to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and reduce environmental impact of wind turbines and wind farms. Dr. Moran is a Status-Only Professor at UofT and a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario since 2010.
