Kevin Dai
Student Researcher
Kevin is an undergraduate Chemical Engineering student from the University of Toronto. In the ATOMS lab, his research focuses on Modeling the Effect of Different Electrolytes on the Aging of Lithium-Ion Batteries Across Multiple Cell Chemistries. His motivation stems from a drive to improve the durability and efficiency of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles. Acknowledging that aging behaviors vary with electrolyte–electrode combinations, his research uses machine learning to model and predict how different electrolyte formulations impact long-term performance across various battery chemistries, with the goal of guiding the design of more robust, application-specific energy storage systems.
Outside of ATOMS lab, Kevin investigates the applications of Wood Biochar Monoliths in Batteries and Supercapacitors and is a recipient of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Undergraduate Student Research Award.
