Om Patel is a second-year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, majoring in Computer Science and Physics. This summer, he will contribute to an advanced battery research program at the University of Toronto’s Advanced Thermofluids Optimization, Modelling and Simulation (ATOMS) Lab. His research will involve generating an accurate DFT dataset for Machine Learning Interatomic Potentials (MLIP), training Moment Tensor Potentials (MTPs), and applying machine learning methods to calculate the lattice thermal conductivity of novel 2D materials. He will also explore the relationship between thermal conductivity and phonon transport properties. Om’s position is supported by NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA).
