Armin Taheri
Postdoctoral Fellow
Armin is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow after finishing his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at the ATOMS lab in 2019. Armin’s research focuses on the study of phonon thermal transport in novel 2D materials using theoretical tools such as density functional theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. This is an extremely multidisciplinary research topic that incorporates knowledge from different fields including physics and material science. One main objective of this research is to manipulate the lattice thermal conductivity of a system by different means such as imposing mechanical strain to become more desirable for the semiconductor industry. Also, he is working on a high throughput computational platform using machine learning algorithms that enables us to systematically study the thermal properties of a large number of materials with the minimum computational cost. Armin holds M.Sc. (2015) and B.Sc. (2013) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tehran.
