Sidra Farid

Research Program Coordinator

Dr. Sidra Farid is currently a Research Program Coordinator at the Electrification Hub of the University of Toronto. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), USA in nanoelectronics and devices. She obtained her post doctorate from UIC and University of Toronto working on advanced nano-photonic devices, high power electronic materials and biomedical applications. She has worked as a sessional faculty in the Engineering Physics Department at the McMaster University and also worked as a program manager for the Ontario Research Fund-Research Excellence. 

Dr. Farid has worked in semiconductor industries such as Intel and Facebook (now Meta) in California USA for 2 years. In the past, she worked as an Associate Professor at the University of Engineering and Technology in South East Asia. She is the receipt of the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship Award, Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) License holder, IEEE Senior Member, a member of Rotary Club of Milton and Educational Coordinator for PEO Oakville Chapter. She is passionate about STEM and has conducted multiple STEM outreach events and workshops for community kids.
