Yu Sung is a PhD student in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department. He is currently working on developing thermal models across physical domains and scales, towards optimization methodologies for enhanced EV battery management performance. He started working in the ATOMS lab in the summer of 2024 as a research assistant.

He received his M.Sc. in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in 2023 from the University of Calgary and his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering in 2017 from McMaster University. His previous research was on electrocermics, and AI enabled machining optimization. He worked for the manufacturing industry in design and maintenance roles, with thermofluids and power applications in plant automation and wastewater treatment.
