Zidong is a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate student at the University of Toronto. He joined the ATOMS lab as a Summer Student in May 2024. Currently his research focuses on the numerical modeling of the process of vasculogenesis and design of bioreactor alternatives aimed at scaled-up production of micro-vasculature.

Zidong joined as a summer student in the ATOMS Lab after returning from the PEY work term. Prior to this, his work focused on the structural and thermal design and modification of nuclear plant fluidic equipment and sensor integration on plant equipment through developing drivers and algorithms, all aiming to monitor and maintain the safety operation of the power plant. He also used to be a manufacturing engineering intern in an industrial motor manufacturing plant, and is a part of the Formula racing team (UTFR) within the University.
